The digital world has changed everything about photography… not only the way we capture photos, but for the most part it’s also the way we consume images. A printed photograph used to be the only way you could share a photo. Now, the actual print is a rare item… unfortunately.
Definite Benefits To Sharing Digitally…
The good thing about sharing our photos online is that our photography can now reach a much larger audience; much faster. That’s an important distinction between the two mediums and very essential if you want to let people know about the kind of art you are creating or photography services you are offering.
But…
As significantly important and helpful as sharing digital images has become, it still doesn’t (IMHO) compare to the feel of experiencing a photo in the form of a physical print. There is always something more intimate and exciting about looking at an actual print of a photo. For me, that has always been the case, but now it’s even more special, more of an elevated experience because prints are much more rare these days. Not only do I love the charm of seeing an actual print, but to me the photos just look better in print than they do on the screen, no matter if the photo was originally taken with a digital or film camera… the print just looks better than the image on a screen.
You Owe It To Yourself…
Printers have become so good these days and the quality of the paper available is amazing. If you haven’t been printing your photos, you owe it to yourself to start doing it now. I promise you it will add a whole new dimension to your photography. You will love your photos even more. You will love photography even more.
