I hope you all happily made it through the end of 2017. This was kind of a quiet month for my personal photography so, much like November, I didn’t get out to shoot that much film.
To be honest, the month was busy and even on the days I did get out to shoot, I often wasn’t in the mood. But in spite of that, I did make the effort to grab my camera and see what photographs I might find out there.
It’s easy to not go out. I know we all have a hard time every now and then finding the motivation to get out there and shoot. Maybe we’re a little burnt out; maybe we feel like we’ve shot everything that there is to photograph in our current cities (and of course that’s never the case), but whatever the reason is, often it’s good to make the effort whether we feel like it or not.
Most of the time when I do make myself go out at night to get some shots, I’ll usually come back with at least a couple photos that made me very happy that I decided to go. I’ll admit that sometimes I’ll go out, not see anything, I won’t even take one shot and it turns into just a walk. But even if a little exercise and fresh air is all I get, I’m grateful for that and happy that I made the effort. Moral of the story…. make the effort. If you don’t, then it’s guaranteed you won’t get any shots. Make the effort. 😉
Well, this completes a full year, 12 issues of Emulsion. I think this may be my last issue. Haven’t decided for sure, but I think it might be a good time to start a new project for a new year. Thank you so much for following along this series with me.
I hope you enjoy the photos and Happy New Year everyone. Here’s to an amazing 2018 with your photography, as well as all aspectes of your life!
