Emulsion is a free monthly digital publication that will be coming out at the end of each month here on minor11.com. As anyone who has followed me this year, you know how obsessed I’ve been with film photography, so each issue will feature ten photographs that I’ve select from all the photos I’ve taken throughout the month using film cameras. There is no specific criteria used in choosing these ten photos; just something about them stood out to me.
Why a Zine?
This project has a few different purposes. One, I am using this as a personal exercise in looking through all my photos that I created throughout the month and editing them down to a small number… ten. Two, just for the sake of sharing my work with you in a downloadable format; and Three, hopefully this might inspire you to do something similar, another way to share your work with others.
As this is a new project that I’ve started in March of 2017, I’ve gone back and created an issue for each of the first three months of this year so far. Currently the zine is pretty minimal, but as time goes on it has the potential to shift, grow, completely change directions, I may change the name, etc… One thing that will remain constant is the focus on film photography. I may even offer a print version down the road, if that seems like something enough people would want.
Again, this is a free publication so feel free to download and share. I hope you enjoy the photos. If you’re a photographer or artist of any sort I hope this inspires you to possibly do something similar with your work.
If you find this is something that interests you and you’d like to see future issues, be sure to use the form at the bottom of the page to subscribe to the journal here at minor11.com.
